It was a season of celebration, missed opportunities and relief for our clubs.
Gambit 5 had a fantastic season, going unbeaten throughout until their final match, when they were already champions. It was even more remarkable seeing that they had failed to finish above 6th place in the previous 5 seasons. Ken Heath was the star performer, scoring 75%.
Gambit 2 narrowly lost out in an exciting season long promotion battle with Grantham 2 and Ashfield 2. Individually, Richard Edwards scored a superb 80%, with Onos Kofi-Ofuafor’s 71% and Michael Naylor’s 67 % highly impressive as well.
Gambit 1 somehow managed to escape relegation after a dreadful season, failing to win any of their 9 last matches, in spite of Mike Barnes’ 216 performance. They only just managed to finished a point above 7th placed West Bridgford 1.
Gambit 3 had a steady season and finished 4th. Although they were only 2 points above the relegation places, they were never in danger of going down.
Gambit 4 also finished 4th but their division was crazy as the top two teams finished miles ahead of the rest and positions 3 to 7 were separated by just 2 points. Gambit 4 gained two valuable draws in February when heavily outgraded by Nomads 1 and Long Eaton.
